National Geographic Opens Games Division

logo_national_geographicThat's right, that National Geographic. Games division. It may sound crazy but it seems like it may have some potential. They've partnered with Namco Bandai and SCEA (Sony's software division) so that gives them some publishing clout, and while their cable network has a reputation as a nerdier version of the Discovery channel they do have some stuff conducive to gaming...to those of you who watched Lockdown, don't try to tell me you didn't imagine it as a strategy game, we all did. Their first offering is much smaller, however; a Flash game about their December magazine feature and upcoming TV special Herod's Lost Tomb, which is a simple find-the-objects point and click game with surprisingly high production values. Then a series of console games and, next month, of course, sudoku. Full announced release list after the jump. National Geographic Games Release Schedule: November 2008 National Geographic - "Herod's Lost Tomb" Namco Bandai - "National Geographic: Panda" Sony - "National Geographic: Africa" December 2008 National Geographic - "Sudoku Traveler: China" 2009 National Geographic - "Rain Forests" National Geographic - "Greencity" National Geographic - "From the Bottom Up"
